It’s All Meat to Me Calzone

Ingredients

  • Opaa! ReadyCarved™ Gyros Slices – 4 oz., chopped
  • Pizza Dough – 8 oz.
  • Egg – 1, blended to create egg wash
  • Ground Beef – 1/4 cup
  • Mushrooms – 1/2 cup, sliced
  • White onion – chopped
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, – 1/4 cup
  • Greek Yogurt – 1/4 cup
  • 1 Tbs Steak Sauce – 1 tbsp.

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350˚ F
  2. In a small bowl, combine greek yogurt and steak sauce until well blended. Set aside.
  3. Cook gyro slices according to packaging directions. Set aside.
  4. Cook ground beef until thoroughly cooked. Set aside (can combine with gyro slices).
  5. In a saute pan, cook the onions until caramelized.
  6. Add the mushrooms and cook until the mixture is sauteed. Add them to a mixing bowl to cool.
  7. Once cooled, add the cooked ground beef and chopped gyro slices. Then fold in the greek yogurt sauce. Then fold in the mozzarella cheese and mix well to bring the filling together.
  8. Roll out the pizza dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Add the filling mixture to one side of the round making sure to leave enough room to fold over the dough to seal.
  9. Using a pastry brush, add some egg wash around the filling. Fold over the dough and make a fluted edge forming the calzone in a half circle shape. Brush the entire calzone with the egg wash.
  10. Bake at 350˚F for 15-20 minutes until the dough is golden brown and crispy.
